Abstract

Klaten Regency is one of Central Java's rice granaries and a national food buffer. The increasing population growth affects the increasing demand for food and land. This study aims to analyze the carrying capacity of agricultural land in Klaten Regency in 2020 and to analyze the need for agricultural land in Klaten Regency in 2040. This study uses mathematical calculation methods and the use of ArcGIS applications in data processing. Quantitative descriptive method is used to analyze the carrying capacity of land and the need for agricultural land, while spatial analysis is used to determine its distribution. The data collection technique was carried out by studying literature in the form of rice productivity data, agricultural land area and population data of Klaten Regency in 2020. The results of the calculation of the carrying capacity of agricultural land in Klaten Regency are divided into class I, class II and class III. In general, they are in the positive category or have the ability to be self-sufficient in food. Estimates of land demand in Klaten Regency in 2040 show that out of a total of 26 sub-districts, there are nine sub-districts with a deficit status or the area of agricultural land availability is lower than the area needed for regional agricultural land. The population and agricultural land production are the most influencing factors for the carrying capacity of the land and the demand for agricultural land. The need for efforts to protect agricultural land to maintain self-sufficiency and meet the availability of agricultural land in Klaten Regency.
