Abstract

Background: According to the report of the RISKESDAS prevalence of anemia in 2013 by 37.1% and it’s increased in 2018 as by 48.9%. In 2015, the prevalence of anemia in adolescent girls in Sukoharjo Regency was 28.08%. There are 44.6% of schoolchildren consume low quality breakfast. Anemia has an effect of diminished ability and learning concentration, increased risk of infection, etc. A risk factor for anemia is the lack of the great variety of foods consumed. Objective: This study aimed to determine the difference in breakfast between the suspect anemia student and non-suspect anemia. Research methodology: this study was observational study with cross sectionals design that study taken online. The status data of anemia was conducted by refilling questionnaires. Breakfast quality data was conducted by a 24-hour recall conducted via call WhatsApp video. The subjects of study numbered 80 people that was taken from proportionately random sampling. The statistical test used to analyze the difference was the chi-square test. Results: The results of Univariat analysis on anemia status with the category of suspect anemia as many as 36 people (45.0%). The breakfast quality of respondents was in the poor category of 27 people (33.8%). The results of bivariate analysis of breakfast quality between suspect anemia and non-suspect anemia (p=0,001). Conclusion: There was a difference in breakfast quality between suspect anemia and non-suspect anemia of junior high school student in Sukoharjo Regency.
