Abstract

This article was written to analyze the struggle of the British women's movement to seek justice in the 19th century voting in the Suffragette movie. The purpose of writing this article is to describe how the movement of British women in the 19th century to be able to get their rights in terms of voting. Because at that time, only men were allowed to cast their votes in politics and government. In this analysis process, the writer uses qualitative methods and using a feminist perspective. The method of data collection conducted by the writer is through watching films, understanding the storyline of the Suffragette film, understanding characterizations, and understanding the issues raised in the movie. the results of this paper want to show about the struggle carried out by the Suffragette in taking their rights. Not only the right to be able to get the right to vote, but also the right in the form of gender equality, because at that time it was illustrated that women have a greater share of work with lower wages compared to men with a smaller portion of work but more wages. The message raised in this film is very interesting because the problems that exist in the film are a reality that is being faced by our society as well at this time.
