Abstract
The covid-19 pandemic restricts human movement between regions and countries. One of them is limiting the movement of Indonesian migrant workers working abroad, namely the changing pattern of mobility and remittance of Karangmalang migrant workers, thus affecting the economy and adaptation of migrant families in the pandemic. This study aims to analyze changes in mobility patterns and remittances of Karangmalang migrant workers during the covid-19 pandemic, analyzing the economy and adaptation of migrant families in the pandemic period. The method used in the form of surveys and population of this study all migrant families located in Karangmalang Subdistrict there were 119 people and sampling using the slovin formula got 54 respondents. Respondents interviewed were only migrant families found in Karangmalang Subdistrict. Determining the number of respondents in each village uses proportional sampling to represent the number of population in each village. Primary data collection using interviews and observations while secondary data collection in the form of Karangmalng migrant workers data comes from DISNAKER Sragen Regency in 2018. Data processing uses frequency tables and cross tables. The analysis techniques of this study use descriptive analysis, cross-tabulation analysis and spatial analysis. The results of research on the mobility patterns of Karangmalang TKI during the pandemic changed from a decrease in the number of working countries to 7 countries, a decrease in the number of active migrant workers to 43 people, the return of Karangmalang migrant workers during the pandemic has a frequency of more than 3 years. Remittance shipments during pandemics have a frequency of 3 months, the amount of remittances during the pandemic is less than Rp. 5,000,000 and the utilization of remittances during the pandemic for productive needs. Adaptation of migrant families during the pandemic there were 18 respondents who changed their type of work to work predominantly in the non-formal sector, there were 32 respondents who borrowed money sourced from banks, relatives and cooperatives, there were 6 respondents who sold their assets.
