Abstract

Disasters are a natural thing to happen in our environment. Understanding the coming disaster, of course, human beings must be smart in responding to it. In the Qur'an has explained a lot to mankind about various forms of disasters and how the disaster can occur, including in Q.S. Rum [30]: 41 (fasad), Q.S. asySyura [42]: 30 (mushībah), Q.S. al-Baqarah [2]: 49 (balā’), Q.S. al-Ma'idah [5]: 71 (fitnah) and many more. These verses will be difficult to understand if there is no help from the books of commentary. The book of tafseer provides an understanding of the verses of the Qur'an, one of which is about disasters. One of the tafseer books that can be used as a guide in understanding the verses of the Qur'an is the Book of Tafseer Jalalain written by two popular theologians, namely Jalaluddin Al-Mahalli and Jalaluddin Asy-Suyuti. The focus of this research is how the interpretation of Jalaluddin Al-Mahalli and Jalaluddin Asy-Suyuti in understanding the form of disaster in humans life and the cause of the disaster. This type of research is a library research, using the Thematic Interpretation approach. The primary source of this research is Book of Tafseer Jalalain by Jalaluddin Al-Mahalli and Jalaluddin Asy-Suyuti and assisted by books, previous research and scientific works related to the object of study. Data analysis techniques in this study use descriptive analysis. The conclusion of this study is that disasters that come to humans have their own basis and purpose why the disaster was happened. As human beings and individuals who experience this should immediately introspect themselves on the mistakes they made. After that, ask God for repentance so that God relieves the disaster that is being experienced.
