Abstract

This study aims to (1) describe the basics and principles of marriage in the teachings of kejawen and Islam regarding marriage and (2) describe the customary procedures for marriage according to the perspective of Islamic law. The research method used is this research is library research or library research, namely research carried out in collecting data or a scientific work which will later aim at an object of research or in collecting data that is library in nature, or carrying out to solve a problem that is basically focused on on a critical and very in-depth study of quite relevant library materials. The results of this study found (1) that the principles and basics of kejawen marriage are all based or principled on a good day, date and month and are suitable for the marriage process to take place. As for the people who until now seem to hold fast to kejawen customs, they are the people of Central Java and (2) Islam responds that, marriages carried out by the Javanese people (performing kejawen customs) are included in the act of shirk.
