Abstract

AC-BC (Asphalt Concrete Binder Course) is a pavement located between the wear layer and the foundation layer which functions as a cover layer of road construction that must be able to maintain road stability due to vehicle loads and weather influences. This research uses PET plastic waste, because of its rigid plastic properties and resistance to deformation. The purpose of this study was to find KPO, Marshall properties, durability, and stiffness modulus. This research uses the test data of recycled material extraction, aggregate testing, and asphalt testing. Then make a test object with asphalt content of 5%, 6%, and 7% for each 2 samples to determine the Optimum Asphalt Content (KAO). Then make a test object with the addition of plastic waste 0%, 2%, 4%, and 6% for each 2 samples for volumetric testing and Marshall obtained the value of Optimum Plastic Content (KPO). After the KPO is obtained, the next step is to make a sample for testing the durability and stiffness modulus. The results of the study with the addition of plastic to the mixture obtained 4,0% KPO with Stability 2443,817 kg, Flow 3,700 mm, VFWA 76,625%, VMA 18,271%, VIM 5,737% and MQ 733,106 kg/mm. In addition, the addition of plastic can increase the value of the Residual Strength Index (IKS) by 90.89% with a specification of 90% according to Bina Marga in 2018 from the normal stability value so that the mixture is declared durable. The addition of plastic can also increase the stiffness modulus value at 0% plastic with Smix values of 9,5 x 108 N/m2 and at KPO of 1,1 x 109 N/m2. The test results show that plastic waste and recycled materials can increase the value of Marshall properties, durability, and stiffness modulus in the AC-BC mixture.
