Abstract

Introduction: One of the complication of CKD is the presence of ketone in urine, this is due to the decline in GFR in CKD patients. CKD is caused by the increase in rate of oxidation and disturbance in the antioxidant system. Oxydative stress in CKD stimulates the forming of free radicals in mitochondria. PropoelixTM contains CAPE that acts as antioxidant and is capable of fighting against the oxydative stress that repairs the condition of CKD. Reserch Objectives: To discover the effect of PropoelixTM in the amount of ketonuria in male rat of the wistar albino strain of the CKD model. Reserch Methodology: This study is a true experimental design with pre-test - post-test control group design. The subject is 28 male rats of the wistar albino strain that are divided into 4 groups of treatment which are group P1 (non CKD group); Group P2 (CKD Control Group) where the rats are acetaminophen + sonde aquestilata + Comfeed_AD II induced; Group P3 where the rats are acetaminophen + sonde PropoelixTM with the dose of 0.0216 gram + sonde aquestilata + Comfeed ADII; Group P4 where the rats are acetaminophen + sonde PropoelixTM with the dose of 0.0432 gram + sonde aquestilata + Comfeed AD II. Measuring of the amount of Ketonuria before the induction of acetaminophen, pre treatment and post treatment using the strip ketone method. Result: The result of this study shows the decline in GFR, an insignificant increase in body weight, and the increase of ketonuria in the rats due to the induction of acetaminophen, and the treatment of PropoelixTM reduced the amount of ketonuria in the male rats of the wistar albino strain of the CKD model. Conclusion: The induction of acetaminophen increases the amount of ketonuria in the male rats of the wistar albino strain of the CKD model. The induction of PropoelixTM with the dose of 0.0432 gram gives more significant decline in the amount of ketonuria the male rats of the CKD mode in comparison with induction with the dose of 0.0216 gram.
