Abstract

Abstract Education at the tertiary level, students are required to be active in the lecture process, the main goal of education in the realm of students is to achieve excellent student academic achievements. High and low academic achievement is influenced by several factors and one of them is social support. This study aims to determine the relationship between social support and academic achievement of students of the psychology faculty of the University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta. The research hypothesis proposed is that there is a positive relationship between social support and academic achievement of psychology students at the University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta. The method used in this research is quantitative correlation. Data collection uses a social support scale that has a reliability of 0.974 and uses a score document that states the Grade Point Average which is used for data collection tools for academic achievement. The research subjects were taken by insidental random sampling technique, a total of 100 subjects came from students of the psychology faculty of the University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta. The analysis uses the product moment correlation technique, and the results obtained are that there is no relationship between social support and academic achievement of students of the psychology faculty of the University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta. Where, from the results of data analysis obtained r = 0.186 and p = 0.064 (p> 0.05), which shows that there is no relationship between social support and academic achievement.
