Abstract

Al-Qur’an is the word of Allah SWT which contains all the rules, orders, and answers to the problems in this life. One of the things discussed and very concerned in the Qur'an is about the morals, behavior, and manners of a human being. Today the problem that cannot be resolved is about the good deeds of a child to his parents (birru al-wālidain . There are still many children from Muslim families who ignore their parents.And this behavior is very contrary to what is prescribed in the Qur'an. The purpose of this study is to describe Buya Hamka's interpretation of the concept of birru al-wālidain in the Qur'an. Which is explained in Q.S. A-Baqarah (2): 83, An-Nisā’ (4): 36, Al-An’ām (6): 151, Al-Isrā’ (17): 23, Al-‘Ankabūt (29): 8, Luqmān (31): 14, and Al-Ahqāf (46): 15. It contains the commandment of Allah SWT to obey Him, the command to do good to both parents afterward, the command to maintain the ties of friendship between relatives, the command to establish friendship between friends, and also the command to speak well to both of them. This type of research is library research, using an interpretive qualitative approach. The primary source of this research is the book of Tafsir Al-Azhar by Buya Haji Abdul Malik Karim Amrullah and assisted by books, previous research, and scientific works that are in accordance with the object of study. Technical analysis of data in this study using descriptive analysis. The conclusion that can be drawn from this research is the concept of birru al-wālidain means be devoted to both, take care of both of them until old age, devoted as long as not associating partners with Allah S.W.T, mother's priority over father, don't say anything that offends both of them, maintain friendship between relatives, make friendships between friends, be wise in life, always do good in life, provide the best life for the family.
