Abstract

The school program is a comprehensive program to optimize the learning of the Taḥfīẓul Qur'an to achieve desired goals in the future. To improve the quality of education at SMP Muhammadiyah 5 Surakarta, the principal makes and implements the Taḥfīẓ program at SMP Muhammadiyah 5 Surakarta. This study aims to describe the effectiveness of the Qur'an Taḥfīẓ program in improving student academic achievement at SMP Muhammadiyah 5 Surakarta for the 2019/2020 academic year. This research is a type of field research with a qualitative approach. In collecting data, researchers used interview, observation, and documentation methods. While the data analysis method used is descriptive. The results of the discussion show that the effectiveness of the Taḥfīẓul Qur'an program in improving student academic achievement is the flagship program at SMP Muhammadiyah 5 Surakarta. The program is held on Monday-Saturday. Based on the results of the study, the researchers concluded that the school's target program is at least 1 juz, namely juz 30, but if there are students who can exceed this target, memorizing juz can continue to juz-29,28 and so on, then held on Monday - Saturday. Starting at 07.00 - 08.00 except Fridays starting at 07.00-9.00 before the teaching and learning process begins. One Taḥfīẓ group consists of 8-10 students who are guided by one teacher. The method used by the students was the murāja’ah, talaqi, sama'i method. The factors that make the success of the Taḥfīẓ program are also influenced by supporting and inhibiting factors, including those that are supporting factors, namely cognitive, affective psychomotor factors. The factors inhibiting the success of the target of Taḥfīẓ Qur'an are factors from different school backgrounds, different backgrounds because they can affect students' enthusiasm and motivation in the learning process. The effectiveness of the Taḥfīẓul Qur'an program in improving the academic achievement of students at SMP Muhammadiyah 5 Surakarta for the 2019/2020 academic year can be said to be successful, with evidence of various achievements both from the academic and non-academic fields as well as the increase in the average report card score.
