Abstract

This study aims to describe the use, effectiveness, constraints, and solutions of using the Project Based Learning model collaborative inquiry strategy in class VII-C students of SMP Negeri 1 Mojolaban, Sukoharjo Regency, for the 2020/2021 academic year. This study uses a combined method of quantitative and qualitative approaches (mixing methods). The quantitative approach design uses Pre-experimental with One Group Pretest Posttest Design, while in qualitative research it uses case studies. Quantitative data collection techniques using the test method, while qualitative with observation and interviews. The validity test of the quantitative instrument was used to measure the validity of the test items using the Product Moment correlation formula with crude numbers and the reliability test of the test instrument using the KR 20 formula. The test for normality requirements used Liliefors and Homogeneity with Bartlett. the validity of qualitative data using triangulation of sources and techniques. Analysis of quantitative data using the Paired Sample T-test, qualitative data analysis using the flow model. The results of this study indicate that the average value (Pretest) of 66.4 increased to 85.9 at (posttest). The obstacles faced were time, infrastructure, use of learning strategies and models, and the limitations of students in understanding the material. An alternative solution to overcome these obstacles is to use the available time and also always coordinate with the school. The hypothesis proposed by Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, meaning that there is a difference between before treatment (Pretest) and after treatment (posttest) through the use of a collaborative inquiry strategy of Project Based Learning model in class VII-C students of SMP Negeri 1 Mojolaban, Sukoharjo Regency. This difference indicates an increase in the average score of understanding the values of Indonesian Democracy before (Pretest) and after (posttest). Based on the explanation above, it implies that understanding the values of Indonesian democracy can be increased if the teacher implements learning using a collaborative inquiry strategy using the Project Based Learning model..
