Abstract

Proteinuria is the result of abnormal kidney function characterized by the presence of protein in the urine >150 mg/L. Oxidative stress is associated with the development of proteinuria caused by overproduction of ROS and not offset by cellular antioxidant defenses. The CAPE in PropoelixTM provides a protective effect against oxidative stress by reducing ROS levels so as to reduce the development of impaired kidney function. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of PropoelixTM on proteinuria levels in male rats of the Wistar albino strain of chronic kidney failure model. This study was conducted using a True experimental design with a pre test - post test control group design on 28 wistar albino rats that met the inclusion criteria and were divided into 4 groups, namely non-chronic kidney failure control (K1), chronic kidney failure control group (K1). K2), treatment group K3, and treatment group K4. The K3 treatment group was given PropoelixTM at a dose of 0.0216 g/200 g BW rats, while the K4 treatment group was given PropoelixTM at a dose of 0.0432 g/200 g BW rats for 21 days. Measurement of proteinuria levels by photometric method pre-post treatment. The research analysis test used the One Way Anova test. The results showed that there was a significant decrease in proteinuria levels (p>0.05). The decrease in proteinuria levels in the PropoelixTM treatment group at a dose of 0.0432 g/200gr BW rats was 2 times greater than the PropoelixTM dose at a dose of 0.0216 g/200gr BW rats. Using the PropoelixTM at a dose of 0.0216 g/200gr body weight rats or a dose of 0.0432 g/200gr body weight rats for 21 days was able to have an effect on reducing proteinuria levels in chronic kidney failure rats.
