Abstract

In the globalization and modern era, when entrepreneurs and foreign workers are free to enter the business world of any country, job competition is getting tougher and full of challenges in professionalism. Accounting Professional Education (PPAk) is important for accounting students, because PPAk can contribute to becoming a professional accountant. The purpose of this study was to test empirically whether the motivation and cost of education have an effect on the interest of accounting students in participating in Accounting Professional Education (PPAk). The population in this study were all accounting students at the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta, Class of 2017, of which the total population of this study was 443 students. Then, using the Slovin formula with an error precision of 10%, a total sample size of 82 students was obtained. The data analysis method used multiple linear regression analysis. The results of this study indicate that the variables of career motivation and cost of education have an effect on the interest of accounting students to attend Accounting Professional Education (PPAk) with sig of 0.048 <0.05 and 0.001 <0.05, respectively. Meanwhile, the variables of economic motivation and quality motivation have no effect on the interest of accounting students to attend Accounting Professional Education (PPAk) with a sig level. respectively 0.459> 0.05 and 0.244 <0.05.
