Abstract

The current account balance is very important for a country because the current account describes the economic conditions in a country, so it is important to observe growth and the factors that influence it. The current account balance is one of the components in the balance of payments which records the trade balance, services balance, income on investment and unilateral transactions. This study was conducted with the aim of knowing the effect of the exchange rate, inflation, and gross domestic product on the current account balance in ASEAN-5 countries consisting of Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia, and the Philippines for the period 2010 - 2019. This study uses panel data, and which sources from the World Bank. The analytical tool used in this study uses panel data regression analysis, using the combination of ordinary least squares (PLS) method to combine cross-section and time series. The results of the T test show that the variables that have a significant effect on the current account balance are inflation variables (IF) and gross domestic product (GDP) while the variables that have no effect on the current account balance are exchange rate variables (KURS).
