Abstract

Background: Advances in technology in the field of transportation and the internet have made the presence of online transportation services, one of which is Go-Jek. These drivers work hard without thinking about the meaning of rest time so that it affects excessive physical activity, messy sleep patterns, and an increase in stress levels in drivers. The drivers' excessive physical activity and irregular sleep patterns will have an impact on higher stress levels. Purpose: To analyze the relationship between physical activity and sleep patterns to stress levels in Go-Jek online taxi drivers in Surakarta. Method: This study uses a cross sectional research design conducted online in May 2021 in Surakarta. A total of 55 respondents from online motorcycle taxi drivers (Go-Jek) who participated in this study were taken using a purposive sampling technique. Stress score data were collected using the PSS-10 questionnaire (Perceived stress scale), sleep patterns using the PSQI (Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index) questionnaire, and physical activity using the IPAQ (International Physical Activity Questionnaire) questionnaire. Data were analyzed using chi square followed by logistic regression. Result: The results of the chi square test obtained physical activity with a stress level (p = 0.003), sleep patterns with a stress level (p = 0.001). Multivariate test with logistic regression, OR value of physical activity = 6,380 and OR value of sleep pattern = 9,750. The results of the logistic regression test, p-values for physical activity and sleep patterns, were 0.039 and 0.009 and the R2 value was 37.2%. Conclusion: Physical activity and sleep patterns can affect stress levels.
