Abstract

Road is an indication of functional damage that cannot be underestimated, because it affects the comfort of road users. Workability or ease of a job is an important part of a job. In Central Java, Cepogo and Merapi sands are very commonly used in road pavements, using one of the methods Hot Rolled Asphalt as a type of flexible pavement with gap gradation. The sequence of the study used primary and secondary data, then the proportion of each fine aggregate fraction of Cepogo and Merapi sand was determined. Then search for optimum asphalt content with variations of 3%, 4%, 5%, 6%, 7% and 8%. Next, make a sample to find the workability value by compacting and measuring the sample height at 5x initial collisions and 2x75 planned collisions. Continue to look for the value of unevenness using the method Sand Patch and the weight approach on each sample. Based on the research, the workability value of Merapi sand is more workable than Cepogo sand, at 5x initial collision and 2x75 planned collision it is 107.59%. Due to the use of fine aggregate, Merapi sand is very minimal compared to Cepogo sand. For testing the unevenness value, Cepogo sand is found to be better than Merapi sand because the coarse aggregate of Cepogo sand is very minimal compared to Merapi sand with the following unevenness values; Cepogo sand sample = 3,704 m/km, Merapi sand sample = 4,78 m/km.
