Abstract

This study aims to describe the role of parents in online learning for Civics subjects during the Covid-19 pandemi in class VIII SMP Muammadiyah 1 Kartasura along with the obstacles and solutions. This type of research is qualitative. Data collection techniques in this study using observation, interviews, and documentation. Sources of data in the form of sources, events and activities, as well as documents. The data analysis technique uses the Miles and Huberman model. The validity of the data is done by using source triangulation and technique triangulation. Indicators of the role of parents in online learning for Civics subjects include facilities in online Civics learning in the pandemi era, helping difficulties in online Civics learning in the pandemi era, assistance in online Civics learning in the pandemi era, and supervision in online Civics learning in the pandemi era. The results of this study indicate that the role of parents in online learning during the pandemi for class VIII students of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Kartasura is going quite well. Parents provide personal cellphone facilities for the benefit of their children's learning, also from parents helping their children in doing online assignments, as well as taking time to accompany children during the online learning process, and supervising whether children follow the online learning process or not. Constraints faced include the ability of parents to provide personal cellphone facilities for the benefit of their children to participate in online learning, helping children with difficulties in carrying out daily tasks, difficulties for parents to take the time to accompany their children during the online learning process because they have to work, and the lack of parental supervision due to busy work. . The solution is that students are given the opportunity to come to school to take advantage of the school's computer laboratory, the school provides the freedom to ask the teacher concerned, either through whatsaap or schoology forums, parents ask for help from the eldest child in the family or relatives of the parents to accompany and supervise their children during the online learning process. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that there must be good cooperation between the school and the family, as well as the importance of maintaining harmony and harmony between family members.
