Abstract

This study aims to describe 1) the use of online media to strengthen civic knowledge competence in the Civics learning process 2) the obstacles to using online media to strengthen civic knowledge competence in the Civics learning process and 3) solutions for using online media to strengthen civics knowledge competence in the Civics learning process. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. Collecting data using interviews, observation, and documentation. Triangulation of data using triangulation of data sources and triangulation of data collection techniques. Data analysis using interactive model. The results of this study indicate that the use of online media to strengthen the competence of civic knowledge in the Civics learning process at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Kartasura is carried out by giving assignments to students through schoology. Students answer questions related to remembering facts, terms, basic concepts and providing descriptions. The obstacle experienced is that students have not been able to understand the Civics material well because there are student answers that are not complete and in accordance with the questions. Students feel bored, lack confidence and are less active in participating in online discussions. The solution to these obstacles, the teacher provides a summary of the material in the form of power point slides. Students are given the opportunity to find various sources of information that are relevant to the Civics Education material. The teacher also provides additional value for students who actively participate and do well on assignments.
