Abstract

Adequate and quality sleep is essential to maintain physical and psychological health, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic which requires everyone to maintain a good immune system. However in reality, there are still many who have sleep disorders, especially in big cities. Sleep disorders are common in early adult productive age, namely 18-25 years. This is caused by physiological, psychological and social factors. The purpose of this study was to describe the characteristics of insomnia sleep disorders in the early adult age range that occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic. This type of research is descriptive. The research subjects are the people of Pasar Kliwon District with an age range of 18-25 years and are not currently experiencing any disease with a total of 243. The research subjects were selected by purposive sampling with an Insomnia Severity Index (ISI) questionnaire distributed via google form and printout. The research data obtained were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results showed that the most subjects experienced moderate insomnia 40.7%, while the others did not show symptoms of insomnia 14.4%, mild insomnia 37%, and severe insomnia 7.8%. In terms of gender, there is no significant difference that is obtained sig value. (2-tailed) 0.78. Students are the most subjects who experience insomnia. The main problem faced by the subject was difficulty sleeping by 88.5%. Another problem is waking up early 79.4% and difficulty maintaining sleep 75.7%. Furthermore, subjects who feel dissatisfied with their sleep are 86.4%, and subjects who seem to have sleep disturbances are 93%. Subjects who feel worried about their sleep problems are 93%, and subjects who feel that their activities are disturbed due to sleep disturbances are 95.1%. This study proves that sleep disorders are still a problem in early adulthood in Pasar Kliwon District during the COVID-19 pandemic.
