Abstract

The MIG arc brazing-fusion welding process is applied to realize the double butt lap joint and the 5352 aluminum alloy without slots or closed grooves is adopted. The modified flux mixture aims to improve the performance of the double butt lap joint. After applying the modified flux, the weld appearance is improved and the spreadability of the filler metal is also greatly improved. During the brazing-fusion welding process, the flux floating on the surface of the welding pool weakens the surface tension between the aluminum filler and the Harris / ACM flux and reduces the evaporation of the Aluminum, leading to highly optimized dispersion. Based on the analysis in this study, the results were in accordance with what was expected by the researchers, where based on the results of the shear tensile test, the average shear stress value was 3.309 MPa and the average strain was 2.67044% on the ACM variation (1 mm) aluminum specimen. and the average value of shear stress is 1,431 MPa and the average strain is 2,008586% on the Harris variation (2 mm) aluminum specimen. From the results of this study, an alternative material for aluminum brazed welding variations was obtained in industrial manufacturing.
