Abstract

This study aims to analyze 1) Higher Order Of Thinking Skills (HOTS) in storytelling activities. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. Collecting data using interviews, observation, documentation. Interviews were used to collect data in the form of the extent of understanding of HOTS, implementation, strategies, children's reactions, and the influence of storytelling activities on early childhood in group B. Observations in the form of aspects of HOTS analyze, evaluate, create. Documentation in the form of files as data supporting the results of the interview. The data sources of this study were the principal and teachers of 2 group B at Darmowijoto Islamic Kindergarten Banjarsari. Validation of data using triangulation of sources and techniques. Data analysis used the interactive analysis of the Miles and Huberman model with data reduction steps, data display, and conclusions. The results showed: 1) The principal and teachers of group B had understood the HOTS aspect and had implemented it in storytelling activities. The strategy applied is by asking questions, inviting children to work, and solving problems. Children's reactions when participating in active and passive storytelling activities because children have different levels of concentration. Storytelling activities containing HOTS aspects in the form of analyze, evaluate, and create in storytelling activities greatly affect the ability to think critically, creatively, communicate, work together, solve problems and self-confidence. From these various abilities, in storytelling activities containing HOTS, children are easier to understand the story line, stimulate children to dare to ask questions and respond, invite children to distinguish characters, increase imagination, train children's language through adding vocabulary. From these three aspects, storytelling activities provide benefits for the cultivation of moral values. Then you can train emotional values in the form of feelings of happiness, sadness, fear, sympathy which will have an influence on children's education to the next level.
