Abstract

Introduction, Gynecological disorders commonly experienced by adolescents during menstruation is primary dysmenorrhea. Some of the risk factors for primary dysmenorrhea are abnormal nutritional status (thin, fat) or lack of physical activity. Purpose, to determine whether there is a relationship between nutritional status and physical activity with the degree of primary dysmenorrhea in adolescents. Method, This study uses a cross-sectional research design and data analysis techniques with chi-square correlation test. Result, the results of the chi-square test between nutritional status and the degree of dysmenorrhea showed a p-value = 0.621 and between physical activity and the degree of dysmenorrhoea showed a p-value = 0.835, where the results of the chi-square test both showed (p-value>0.05) which means there is no significant relationship between nutritional status and physical activity with the degree of primary dysmenorrhea. The absence of a relationship can occur due to other primary dysmenorrhea risk factors such as excessive sugar intake, lack of intake of fish containing omega-3, stress due to the pandemic, and physical activity carried out only in the form of daily activities other than sports, so it has no effect on reducing the degree of primary dysmenorrhea. Conclusion, from this study, there is no relationship between nutritional status and physical activity with the degree of primary dysmenorrhea.
