Abstract

This study aims to describe the effect of the implementation of storytelling activities in learning on the improvement of early childhood critical thinking. This research is a qualitative research. Data collection using interview and documentation methods. Interviews were used to collect data about the benefits, inhibiting factors and the influence of storytelling activities on the critical thinking skills of early childhood. Documentation in the form of files as data supporting the results of the interview. The data sources for this study were the principal and class teacher at TK 'Aisyiyah Kartasura. Validation of data using triangulation of sources and techniques. Data analysis used an interactive analysis of the Miles and Huberman model with data reduction steps, data display, and conclusions. The results of the study showed: 1) The implementation of storytelling activities in 'Aisyiyah Kartasura Kindergarten has been carried out once a week on Fridays carried out at the beginning of learning activities as apperception. Storytelling activities affect the development of children's critical thinking because storytelling activities can stimulate children to think creatively, develop children's curiosity through questions that arise during fairy tale activities, fairy tales can increase vocabulary, increase children's concentration, fairy tales are also good for stimulating growth child's brain so that children can think logically. Storytelling activities have exemplary attitudes that children can emulate to act as examples, the actions packaged in the story can make children have strong faith and piety so that they are not only smart in academic education.
