Abstract

SMP N 2 Gatak is located in one of the flood prone areas in Gatak Subdistrict. The importance of knowledge of flood disaster mitigation at location with flood prone to reduce the risk. Uses videos can support learners in the curriculum 2013, a documentary that contained factual phenomena and animated videos that drew visually.The purpose of this study is to find whether there is a difference in increasing knowledge of flood disaster mitigation at grade VII student in SMP N 2 Gatak Sukoharjo by using documentary videos and animated videos.This study uses a quantitative approach to the type of quasi experiment in the form of pre-experimental design with one-group pretest-posttest design. The population in this study are all of students class VII in SMP N 2 Gatak are totaling 288 students. The sampling technique used is nonprobability sampling which result sample of 55 students that consisting of two experimental classes. The data collection technique used is test questions which totaling 15 questions. The analysis technique in this study is using descriptive qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis with paired sample t test and mann whitney test. The results of the study based on the paired t test of statistical test using the pre test and post test values in this study indicate that there are difference in the level knowledge of flood disaster mitigation between before and after being treated by documentary videos and animated videos. The increase in knowledge of flood disaster mitigation at animated videos experiment class is higher than the increase in knowledge at the documentary videos experiment class. Animated videos is more effective for increasing knowledge of flood disaster mitigation than documentary videos.
