Abstract

This study aims to describe the application of 4C skills in grade 3, the obstacles faced by teachers as the main role in implementing 4C skills and solutions in overcoming the obstacles faced by teachers. This type of research is qualitative. Data collection techniques using interviews, observation and documentation. Interviews were conducted virtually through Google meet with third grade teachers and school principals, as well as via whatsapp with third grade students. While the observations were carried out during PLP 2 and 3. The data analysis technique was carried out interactively and continuously until the saturation point, which consisted of data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing. The validity of the data using source triangulation and technical triangulation. The results of this study obtained the application of 4C skills, namely, first, the application of critical thinking is done by inviting students to read story books and continue the text in the material book during learning, besides that students are also invited to read silently for 15 minutes in a corner. reading done during breaks. Second, the application of collaboration is done by inviting students to have group discussions on certain lessons, the teacher directs students to emphasize respect for friends when other groups speak, besides that in groups the teacher always shuffles students' seats so that each discussion will always change friends. Third, the application of creativity is carried out with the task of making crafts such as collages, kites and cars from used materials, in making these crafts students are free to be creative according to their imagination, and the teacher will provide a locker to store their work as a form of appreciation. Fourth, the application of is carried out by discussing opinions and coming forward to present the results of the discussion, besides that there is also drama material that is used to communicate well and strengthen communication relations among friends. The obstacle faced by the teacher in applying the 4C skills in thematic learning is the lack of patience of the teacher, because the teacher tends to want instant things, the next obstacle is the students, some students are still passive and lack confidence in their opinions, besides that some active students seem crowded and do not respect the opinion of friends. Lastly, limited facilities and time. The solution that can be applied by teachers is that teachers attend training such as seminars and workshops as well as evaluation meetings with school principals to increase teacher knowledge. The teacher also applies classroom management that is suitable for passive students and busy students. Finally, to overcome the limited time and facilities, the teacher gives homework that must be done with parents, besides that there is also a control book to monitor student activities at home.
