Abstract

Abstract High-strength concrete is concrete with special treatment that cannot always be achieved only with the use of conventional materials. The constituent materials can be replaced with several alternatives, such as cement can be replaced with fly ash. The fly ash used must be good, including fly ash with fine grains. This study aims to determine the effect of fly ash fineness. In its application, the manufacture of test specimens with variations of high-strength reference concrete, and concrete using Fly Ash 50% which was sifted with 200 and 400 mesh sieves was used as a substitute for the volume of cement. This research makes cylindrical specimens measuring 15cm in diameter and 30cm in height, and durability cylinders measuring 10cm in diameter and 5cm in height. Immersion of the test object for 14 days, 28 days, 56 days. After that, testing is carried out, for cylinders, compressive strength tests are carried out and durability tests are carried out. The test results obtained that the average compressive strength of the reference concrete increased at the age of 28 days by 7.51%, HVFA concrete that passed the rival 200 experienced the highest increase at the age of 28 days by 4.81%, the HVFA concrete passed the rival 400 experienced the highest increase at the age of 28 days by 4.35%. The results of the average durability test at the age of 56 days are 2241 column reference concrete, HFVA concrete passing 200 sieve of 1173 column, HVFA concrete passing 400 sieve of 924 column. With the finer the fly ash grains, the denser and denser, this is evident from the test the compressive strength is increasing and the resistance to chloride ions is getting better as well.
