Abstract

The phenomenon of load imbalance occurs because of inequality in electricity consumption. The trigger for the emergence of current in the neutral conductor and losses on the secondary or primary side of the transformer is because the R, S and T phases are not balanced. If left unchecked, it can harm consumers or PLN. If the load distributed to each phase R, S and T is the same and forms an angle of 120° between phases, the electric power is balanced. It is said to be unbalanced if one of the phases has a different load from the others. This research is attempted in order to understand the large influence of energy losses that occur due to imbalance, and to understand the effect of load imbalance on distribution transformer efficiency. The research uses the procedures for collecting information and analyzing the load imbalance calculation on the efficiency of distribution transportation of PT. PLN (Persero) ULP Pedan. The highest transformer efficiency of 96.75% occurs during the day on the first transformer, and the lowest efficiency of 94.38% occurs at night on the second transformer.
