Abstract

The objectives of this study include: (1) To describe the role of female mobile vegetable traders as the backbone of the family economy in Pondok Karangrejo Village, Grobogan Regency. (2) Describe the obstacles faced by female mobile vegetable traders in trading in Pondok Karangrejo Village, Grobogan Regency. This type of research is qualitative with an ethnographic design. The resource persons in this study were female mobile vegetable traders, husbands of mobile vegetable traders, and vegetable buyers. Data collection techniques were carried out by interview and observation. The validity of the data using source triangulation. The data analysis technique used is the interactive analysis of Miles and Huberman with data reduction steps, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. The results showed that: (1) female mobile vegetable traders as the backbone of the family economy in Pondok Karangrejo Village, Grobogan Regency, played a very large role in the family economy by being the main breadwinner who was able to support and increase family household income. (2) Women mobile vegetable traders in Pondok Karangrejo Village, Grobogan Regency in trading face several obstacles such as limited business capital, competition from other vegetable traders, many buyers who are in debt, low education, and the age of the traders who are old.
