Abstract

Abstract This study aims to determine the perception of adolescents who experience sexual disorientation towards parental care. The youths were assisted by the Lentera and YASEMA foundations. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative with a phenomenological approach. Participants who became resource persons in this study were adolescents aged 18-20 years who experienced sexual disorientation (homosexual), all of which were taken by purposive sampling with data collection using observations and interviews. The validity of the data using member checking and analyzed by thematic analysis. Based on the results of data analysis that has been obtained in the field, it can be concluded as follows: 1) adolescents' perceptions of parental care include first, perceptions of parenting patterns, namely parental responsibilities that are not fulfilled, no rules at home, poor communication, love affection that has not been fulfilled enough, and parents who tend to let. Second, the parenting style or parenting model, namely the selection of parenting models that tend to ignore, forceful and demanding parents, liberating parenting, and dominant parenting styles. Third, the function of the family, namely teenagers feel that the family does not function properly where teenagers do not get complete religious values from their parents, demand children in parental decisions, unpleasant families so that teenagers prefer to be outside, there is no special moment for the family, and attitude towards the family. families who are indifferent to the traumatic events experienced by adolescents. Fourth, the role of fathers and the impact of parenting on adolescents, namely fathers who tend to be loud, quiet, play hands, rarely invite communication, and make teenagers into hard and arrogant individuals with less responsibility and independence. 2) differences in parenting patterns applied by fathers and mothers, namely from attitudes and behavior in the application of parenting where mothers have a gentle attitude, are able to understand children, provide sufficient attention and affection for children, tend to be closer to children, but are less assertive in their actions. the process of educating children and fathers has a hard character, is quiet, rarely communicates, likes to hit, does not play a role as it should, discriminates between children both attention and affection. In the absence of a balance of parenting, so that boys do not have a father figure that is as expected. And the perception of teenagers related to parenting becomes a reinforcement of what they choose. Keyword: child perception, parenting style, and homosexual adolescents.
