Abstract

Adolescence is a transitional phase from childhood to adulthood, usually in their teens to early twenties. Millennial teenagers are a generation that grows and develops in technological advances, and therefore millennial teenagers are familiar with social media as evidence of technological progress. Social media is used as a means of communication and sharing information, thus what is being done is a process of self-disclosure or self-disclosure, one of the factors in self-disclosure is related to how the competence of an individual is, one of which is the ability to carry out a certain task either physically and mentally. In this study, the competence to be reviewed is in terms of mental health. The purpose of this study was to find out whether there is a positive relationship between mental health and self-disclosure in millennial adolescents who use social media as many as 135 respondents were selected by purposive sampling method. Meanwhile, the scale used is the DASS scale and the Revised Self-disclosure Scale from Wheeles (1978). Furthermore, in data analysis using Pearson's product moment. The results obtained from this study showed (r) = 0.14 with sig. tailed 0.435, which means that there is insignificant relationship between mental health and self-disclosure.
