Abstract

Introduction: Heart failure is a condition in which a person experiences a decrease in functional capacity and shortness of breath (dyspnea) during activities or at rest. Heart failure is a disease that affects health worldwide with increasing prevalence. The high prevalence of heart failure is supported by the accompanying disease. Comorbidities in patients with heart failure are diabetes mellitus, hypertension and coronary heart disease. These comorbidities have serious effects and affect the time of hospitalization. So that patients with heart failure with comorbidities will prolong the treatment time in the hospital. Objective: To determine the description of the characteristics of patients with heart failure and comorbidities with the length of days of treatment at Dr. Hospital. Moewardi Surakarta. Research Methods: This research is a quantitative research using a descriptive approach. The study was carried out on May 5 – June 1, 2021. The sample of this study was 407 heart failure patients at Dr. Hospital. Moewardi Surakarta. Results: The comorbidities in this study were divided into six which included DM, HT, Hypercholestrol, CHD, Heart Valve Disease, Cardiac Muscle Infection where the most comorbid diseases were hypertension as many as 155 (38.1%) respondents. The length of day of treatment in this study was divided into 2 groups, namely length of stay ≤ 1 week and > 1 week. Patients with length of stay ≤ 1 week were 260 respondents (63.9%) and length of > 1 week were 147 respondents (36.1%). Conclusion: Of the 407 research respondents, the majority of respondents had hypertension co-morbidities with the majority of treatment duration ≤ 1 week.
