Abstract

This study aims to determine the characterization of gray cast iron material due to the influence of Silicon Fero (Fe-Si) 2% and Fero Manganese (Fe-Mn) 2% in the casting process with Metal and Sand Molds.Making specimens from cast iron material gray specimen making process using casting method sand casting and iron casting. From the hardness test results obtained the results of hardness testing with a top metal mold of 200 BHN. Then on the middle metal mold of 218 BHN. Then for the bottom metal mold of 232 BHN. While the value of material hardness in the upper transition mold is 173 BHN. For the middle transition mold is 214 BHN. And the bottom transition mold is 227 BHN. Then on the upper sand mold of 197 BHN. Then for the middle sand mold of 212 BHN. And the bottom sand mold is 226 BHN. From the hardness test results from the addition of Silicon Fero (Fe-Si) 2% and Fero Manganese (Fe-Mn) 2% obtained the highest value in the lower metal mold with a hardness value of 232 BHN.
