Abstract

Biology is a branch of science that specifically studies living things. To understand biology scientifically, besides studying theory, it is also necessary to carry out practicum. The biology laboratory room functions as a place for practical biology learning activities that require special equipment. The laboratory needs to be supported by the availability of adequate tools and materials in accordance with Permendiknas No. 24 of 2007. Laboratory management is also important because it is directly related to the process of data collection, reporting, and maintenance of tools and materials in the laboratory. This study aims to determine the quality of the laboratory as a support for biology subjects at Madrasah Aliyah PPMI Assalaam Surakarta in the 2018/2019 academic year. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. The data collection techniques in this study used observation, interview, and documentation techniques. The results of this study indicate that; 1) quality of laboratory facilities and infrastructure based on Permendiknas No. 24 of 2007 got an average percentage value of 89.9% (very adequate), 2) the quality of biology practicum instructions got an average percentage value of 94.4% (very good), 3) the quality of the biology practicum implementation can be said to be less than optimal, 4) the quality of biological laboratory management can be said to be good in the process of biological laboratory management, from the aspects of data collection, reporting, and maintenance.
