Abstract

Work fatigue is the body's mechanism to avoid damage to make the body recovers after rest. Fatigue can have bad consequences such as decreased productivity, decreased product quality, affects decision making, inaccuracies in doing work, and even increases the risk of work accidents. Work fatigue can be caused by physical and mental workload. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between physical workload and mental workload to the work fatigue of the extruder section operator at PT ABC. The method used is the IFRC questionnaire to test the level of worker fatigue, the calculation of the CVL percentage to determine the physical workload, and NASA TLX to determine the mental workload. This research is a cross-sectional study consisting of two independent variables, namely physical and mental workload, and one dependent variable, namely the level of fatigue which will be analyzed through individual correlation tests. The sample used for this study was total sampling, namely all 26 operators of the extruder section. The results of the analysis show that the highest CVL score is 26% which is included in the category of no fatigue. Meanwhile, in the NASA-TLX analysis, 3 operators get very high mental load category with the highest score of 91.33, 18 operators in the high category, 4 operators in the medium category, and 1 operator in the low category. Then for the level of fatigue, there are 11 operators into the low category and 15 operators into the medium category. The results of the Pearson and Spearman correlation test with 0.05 showed that there was no relationship between physical workload (sig = 0.77) and mental workload (sig = 0.189) on the level of fatigue.
