Abstract

Introduction : An incisional flap is an oral surgical procedure used to improve visibility of the operating area. The incision flap is an important variable in oral surgical procedures because it allows for better visibility and access to the operating area and has an impact on the healing process. Several attempts have been made to reduce the occurrence of postoperative complications, with the most commonly used methods being envelope flaps and triangular flaps. The use of an inappropriate incision flap during a surgical procedure can result in postoperative complications, as well as a delay or prolongation of the gingival healing process. The purpose of this paper is to determine and compare the effect of the envelope and triangular incisional flap methods on gingival healing after oral surgery in dentistry. Research Methods: The research used is a literature review, the data used are secondary data, obtained from previous research. Search articles using search engines, Google scholar, Pubmed and Science Direct with the keywords incision flap, flap envelope, flap envelope complications, triangular flaps, triangular flap complications, gingival wound healing. The criteria for articles used are journals in 2010-2020 with research samples taken in previous studies in the form of humans with experimental research types. Conclusion : The choice of the incisional flap method in oral surgical procedures can affect the healing process and postoperative complications. The envelope flap has fewer signs of complications and is faster in the gingival healing process after oral surgery compared to the triangular flap.
