Abstract

Education on planning due to volcanic activity is needed so that students have provisions in the face of disasters that occur. The purpose of this study was to: (1) develop documentary video learning media as disaster knowledge for students in the volcanism at SMA Negeri 1 Jatinom, and (2) knowing the effectiveness of the use of video in the learning of volcanic process materials as the basis of disaster knowledge at SMA Negeri 1 Jatinom. This research was a development research using 4D models (Define, Design, Develop, Dissemination), but there was limititation on the dissemination stage. The research design to know the feasibility of the media is to use an assessment questionnaire with the number of samples of 36 students. Learning media developed, assessed eligibility by material experts, media experts, teacher, and students. The results showed that: (1) documentary video learning media products were developed as a basis for knowledge of disasters caused by volcanic activity, (2) documentary video learning media has met the eligibility criteria based on the assessment of material experts to score 4 with a category of “good”, based on the assessment of media experts to score 4,5 with a category of “excellent”, based on teacher get a score 4,4 with a category of “excellent”, and based on students get a score 4,2 with a category of “good”. This suggests that documentary video learning media deserves to be used as a basis for disaster knowledge on the subject matter of the volcanism.
