Abstract

The use of electricity that continues to increase along with population growth will have an impact on energy waste if it is not balanced with saving efforts. The larger the population, the greater the electrical energy required. The current use of electric power can only be seen through the kWh meter provided by PLN as a measuring instrument for electrical power transactions, so there are difficulties in knowing several electrical parameters in full. This study uses the ADDIE model development method which includes Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The goal is to realize a tool that can help the community in monitoring the power consumption of household electrical appliances that can be accessed at any time using a smartphone application. The results obtained are the creation of a monitoring tool for power loading and PLN electricity costs and their usage time using a smartphone application which is composed of several constituent components including: 5VDC power supply adapter, NodeMCU ESP8266 V3 microcontroller, PZEM 004-T sensor, DHT22, 20x4 LCD, relay, buzzer, and android smartphone. The performance of the developed device, the monitoring tool can display data in the form of voltage, current, power, power factor, energy, temperature, time, PLN electricity usage costs, and a protection system in the event of an electrical disturbance through the device buzzer and notifications on the smartphone application with a percentage data reading error is less than 5%, so it can be concluded that sending data from the microcontroller to the website database and smartphone application via a WIFI connection is quite fast and real time.
