Abstract

It has become a common phenomenon that everyone always carries a smartphone everywhere to find out the news or just open social media. when a smartphone is left behind someone will experience excessive anxiety, this anxiety is called nomophobia. Nomophobia is a condition of a person experiencing fear or anxiety when away from a smartphone which has a detrimental effect that affects one's concentration. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between self-control and the intensity of Facebook use with nomophobia tendencies in adolescents. The method used is a quantitative correlation approach. The data collection tool uses the nomophobia scale, the self-control scale, and the facebook usage intensity scale. The research sample was 60 students of Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. Data analysis using Multiple Regression.The results of the analysis show p = 0.078 (p = > 0.05) which means the researcher's hypothesis is rejected, there is no relationship between self-control and the intensity of facebook use with nomophobia tendencies in adolescents. From the results of categorization, it can be seen that the subject has high self-control, low intensity of use of facebook and nomophobia in moderate categorization.
