Abstract

Siti Wahyu Caristina/ A310170113 with the thesis title “ Expressive Speech Actions on the Instagram Account Caption @najwashihab Its Relevance in Indonesian Language Learning in High School”. Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta, July, 2021. The reason behind this research is that many people use speech acts that are not in accordance with the current situation and misinterpret the speech spoken by the speaker, one of which is not expressive speech which is often used by many people in expressing what they are experiencing. or about the state of their feelings that have the purpose of the speech being said by so that the speech partner or reader is able to interpret the meaning of the speech. In this study I chose this Instagram account because the @najwashihab account wrote a lot of captions using expressive speech acts in expressing it and it was suitable for research in speech acts. Because speech acts are activities carried out by more than one speaker and speech partners in the hope that the speech partners can find out the meaning of the speech that has been conveyed by the speaker. The Instagram account uses a lot of expressive speech acts in every post and I relate these speech acts to their relevance to Indonesian language teaching materials in high school. This research belongs to the type of qualitative research, with descriptive methods and this study has the following objectives: 1) To describe the form of expressive speech acts in the Instagram @najwashibab caption, 2) To describe the purpose of the expressive speech act in the @najwashibab Instagram caption, 3) To know the speech act expressive on the Instagram caption @najwashibab its relevance in learning Indonesian in high school. The results in this study are documents that I took from the @najwashihab Instagram account which I read and recorded for me to examine and I found, expressive speech acts congratulating 12, blaming 1, saying thank you 9, commenting 12, condolences 2, surprised 3, complaining 2, insinuating 6, praising 5. And using the meaning of expressive speech acts as an example of learning Indonesian in high school (SMA).
