Abstract
The purpose of this study is to find the true meaning of Theresa's true love. There are three formulations of problems that will be analyzed "How is Theresa's character depicted in the film based on a psychoanalytic approach?" Then "What are the features characteristics of true love depicted in the film?" and "How is true love illustrated in movies?" This research method is literature study. There are two sources of data used, namely the primary source is the film Message in a Bottle by Luis Mandoki. Secondary sources are obtained from several journals and related articles on the internet. This study applies Sigmund Freud's psychoanalytic theory, characterization characteristics and the theory of the power of love. There are results related to this research. First, the discovery of Theresa's personality from Sigmund Freud's psychoanalytic theory based on the Id, Ego and Super ego. The next result is the character of the meaning of Theresa's true love, namely a sincere, loyal, romantic and sensitive 2 personality. And the final result is a picture of Theresa's true love from the introduction with Garret until the end of Garret's life. Theresa remains loyal. Theresa has found her true love even though in the end their love cannot be united but Theresa is grateful to have known Garret in her life.
