Abstract

ABSTRACT Sukandar, 2021. "The Role of Principal Transformational Leadership in Improving Teacher Performance at SMK Muhammadiyah Randublatung, Blora Regency". Thesis. Master of Education Administration Study Program. Graduate School. Muhammadiyah Surakarta university. Advisor Prof. Dr. Sutama, M.Pd. The purpose of this study is to describe the role of the principal in implementing the school's vision and mission, providing inspiring encouragement, developing creative ideas, giving individual attention to improving teacher performance at SMK Muhammadiyah Randublatung. The research method uses a qualitative approach, the type of research is a case study. The data collection technique uses participant observation, in-depth interviews and documentation. The data analysis technique uses case analysis. The results showed that: (1) The role of the principal in implementing the vision and mission in improving teacher performance at SMK Muhammadiyah Randublatung was reflected in the behavior of the principal in preparing the school's vision and mission with joint discussions, making school programs guided by quality standards, promoting exemplary and mobilizing the school community to participate to improve performance; (2) The role of the principal in providing inspiring encouragement in improving teacher performance at SMK Muhammadiyah Randublatung can be seen from the behavior of the principal in fostering inspiration through inspiring stories of fighters, providing examples in carrying out work and encouraging to improve the quality of work; (3) The role of the principal in developing creative ideas in improving teacher performance at SMK Muhammadiyah Randublatung is reflected in the behavior of the principal in cultivating problem solving by discussion, receiving suggestions, criticisms and new ideas that are useful for school development, providing support for teachers and employees to improve work through coaching tailored to the needs; (4) The principal's role in giving individual attention to improving teacher performance at SMK Muhammadiyah Randublatung is reflected in the principal's behavior in giving rewards for those who excel, giving verbal and polite reprimands for those who make mistakes, building communication and establishing friendship as a way of building emotional bonds. to all school members
