Abstract

This study aims to describe the marketing pattern of traditional chili sauce in Purwodadi in penetrating the international market. This research is a qualitative research with ethnographic design. Data collection methods used are observation, in-depth interviews and documentation. The data validity technique in this study was tested through source triangulation. The stages of data analysis techniques include determining informants, interviewing informants, making ethnographic notes, asking descriptive questions, analyzing interviews, creating domains, asking structural questions, making taxonomies, asking contrasting questions, componential analysis, finding cultural themes, and writing ethnography. The results showed that the marketing pattern of traditional chili chilies to penetrate the international market was carried out by determining the direction of the international market which was determined based on the countries where most Indonesian citizens (WNI) lived and countries that had the same cultural tendencies as Indonesia, so that it would be easier to marketing and product expansion. Marketing activities in penetrating the international market are carried out by paying attention to product quality, selling value, promotion direction and market network to be targeted. Marketing is supported by good service and giving rewards to customers so that it will generate interest and can maintain customer loyalty. Service to customers is very important because the provision of good service will create closeness and good relations with customers. Through the creation of good relationships and the provision of rewards, the company can attract and retain chili chili customers.
