Abstract
Introduction Elderly is someone who has reached the age of 60 years or more which is marked by reduced organ function to repair or replace oneself. Elderly people who experience decreased organ function, among others, can cause musculoskletal system disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis. Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic autoimmune disorder that causes an inflammatory process or swelling of the joints. The purpose of this study was to describe the functional abilities and self-control abilities of the elderly with Rheumatoid arthritis in the working area of Pajang Surakarta Health Center. This research method is descriptive quantitative. The population of this study was the elderly with Rheumatoid Arthritis who underwent examinations for the last 3 months from September to November 2020 in the Pajang Health Center area, namely 59 people. Sampling using non-probability sampling techniques: accidental sampling then calculated using the Slovin formula. The number of samples in this study were 37 people. This research was conducted in the working area of the Pajang Health Center. The measuring instrument used the ADL Barthel Index + IADL questionnaire and the Self Regulation questionnaire. The results of the research on the functional ability of the elderly with rheumatoid arthritis in the Pajang Health Center area were more than half in the good category, namely 24 respondents (64.9%) and the poor category was 13 respondents (35.1%) and the ability to control themselves in the elderly with The majority of rheumatoid arthritis is high as many as 33 respondents (89.2) and moderate as many as 4 respondents (10, 8%). The conclusion is that the majority of the client's self-functional abilities in this study fall into the good category and the majority of respondents' self-control ability in this study shows a high majority.
