Abstract

This research was conducted to investigate the effect of temperature and holding time variations on the hardness and microstructure of ST 60 steel in the annealing process. The annealing process is widely used to remove residual stresses in the production process so that steel becomes more ductile. in this study using temperatures (750 ° C), (800 ° C), (850 ° C) and (900 ° C). In this study the annealing process was held with a holding time of 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes, 60 minutes. The results of this study indicate that at a temperature of 750 ° C and holding time 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes, 60 minutes. the hardness value has an average of 62 HRA. at a temperature of 800 ° C with a holding time of 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes, 60 minutes the average hardness value was 59.67 HRA. then at a temperature of 850 ° C with a holding time of 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes, 60 minutes the average hardness value is 53.67 HRA and at a temperature of 900 ° C with a temperature of 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes, 60 minutes is 53 HRA. Raw material has an average hardness value of 66.7 HRA. so the raw material after experiencing the annealing process has decreased. Thus the higher the temperature and holding time in the annealing process affects the hardness of the material.
