Abstract

Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by the coronavirus 2. Therefore, those who are susceptible to infection are health workers ( nurses ) who care for COVID-19 patients so it is important for nurses to protect themselves from exposure to the virus by using personal protective equipment (PPE). Objective to know the description of nurse in the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in hadling COVID-19 patients. Methods This research method is descriptive , cross sectional approach with a sample size of 92 respondents and using a questionnaire in the form of google form . Result From the research, the results obtained were level 1 nurse safety in the use of personal protective equipment in handling COVID-19 patients, namely (62,5%) respondents obeyed, level 2 nurse safety in the use of personal protective equipment in handling COVID-19 patients, namely (70,0%) respondents obeyed, level 3 nurse safety in the use of personal protective equipment in handling COVID-19 patients, namely (56,7%) respondents obeyed. Conclusion nurses safety compliance in the use of personal protective equipment is that the majority are 26-35 years old, the majority are female and with a majority education of D3. Suggestion for respondents to obey the safety of using personal protective equipment in handling COVID-19 patients to avoid work accidents or exposure to the risk of COVID-19 infection .
