Abstract
Background: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is an endocrine disorder that most commonly occurs in women of reproductive age. It affects nearly 20% of them, but this percentage varies according to the adopted diagnostic criteria. This syndrome is characterized by oligo- amenorrhea, with or without hyperandrogenism/ hyperandrogenemia or polycystic ovary morphology, and obesity is also very frequently associated with it. The characteristics of PCOS are a factor in the formation of sufferers' psychological morbidity, because sufferers feel less feminine and maintain a more depressed feeling. They may also negatively affect their self- image which results in sexuality. Sexual function depends on the integration of physical, socio- emotional and intellectual aspects. Better knowledge of the incidence, causes and risk factors for sexual dysfunction in women with PCOS will help in prevention, treatment and patient prognosis. Objective: Researchers wanted to know whether PCOS had an effect on sexual dysfunction in women with polycystic ovary syndrome? Methods: This study is a systematic review study. The data obtained is secondary data, namely the results of research that has been conducted by previous researchers. The secondary data source obtained is in the form of international journal articles. Literature search in this systematic review uses two databases, namely Pubmed, Science Direct. Results: The results of combined data from 2 databases are 1764 articles, 29 duplicates, 1735 articles remain, eliminated according to title, abstrack and full text, 1491 excluded data, 244 articles of which 232 full text data excluded and 12 data collected critical analysis has been carried out. Conclusion: Based on the results of the study or systematic review of 12 articles, it can be concluded that there is no significant difference between the incidence of sexual dysfunction in women with PCOS compared to controls in the FSFI score, but a small significant effect was found on the sexual function subscale (arousal: P = 0.019; lubrication: P = 0.023; satisfaction: P = 0.015; orgasm: P = 0.028), this indicates impaired sexual function in women with PCOS.
