Abstract

This study aims to determine whether the application of the TGT learning strategy is better than conventional learning strategies in increasing the learning achievement of students of class VIII MTs Ponpes Darul Hijroh. This research is an experimental study, using a nonequivalent control group design. The population in this study were all students of class VIII pondok putri as many as 60 students consisting of two classes. To determine the sample control class and experimental class using simple random sampling. Data collection techniques with documentation and tests. Previous test questions were tried out and calculated with the difficulty level of the questions and the distinguishing power. The data analysis technique used in this study was the paired sample t test, wilcoxon and mann whitney Based on data analysis and discussion with the Mann Whitney test, it can be concluded that the conventional learning treatment obtained an average increase of 6.3333 or 8.992%, while the TGT study obtained an increase of 16.9333 or 24.167%. When compared, it turns out that the TGT learning treatment is better than conventional learning. Statistically, that is, by using the Mann Whitney test, the Z count is -5,101 with a probability value of 0.000. probability value 0.000 <0.05, which means there is a difference in learning achievement improvement between conventional learning and TGT learning. This means that the hypothesis that the TGT learning treatment is better than conventional learning is accepted.
