Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the self-concept of a alcoholic addict. This study used a qualitative phenomenological method, where data collection was carried out by semi-structured interviews. The data were obtained from three respondents with the criteria of adolescent alcoholics who were selected purposively. This data analysis technique uses thematic stages by identifying, analyzing, and reporting patterns (themes) in the data. The validity of the data is done using a member check. It can be concluded that the self-concept image of alcoholics tends to be negative, it was recognized by the respondent that he was less capable of solving problems. Respondents feel their behavior is different from those around them. Respondents are also less able to recognize the deficiencies that exist in themselves and are less able to change them, cannot stand and easily get angry when receiving criticism, feel happy when they get praise, are hypercritical towards others, feel disliked by others, and feel pessimistic about competition.
