Abstract

Implementing nurses need to be aware of the importance of documenting nursing care, starting from the assessment process, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing. The implementation of nursing care documentation can be influenced by several dependent variables, including the characteristics and motivation of the nurse in charge, as well as the supervision of the head of the room. The research objective was to determine the relationship between the characteristics and motivation of the nurse in charge and the supervision of the head of the room with the implementation of nursing care documentation at PKU Muhammadiyah Jatinom Hospital.This study used a descriptive correlative design with a cross sectional approach. The sample in the study was a nurse who served in PKU Muhammadiyah Jatinom Hospital with a total of 75 nurses acting as respondents, with a total sampling technique. The data were collected by distributing questionnaires. The results of the chi-square bivariate statistical test showed that there was a significant relationship between age characteristics, gender characteristics, motivation, and supervision with the documentation process (p = 0.0001). And there is no significant relationship between the characteristics of the level of education and the characteristics of the length of time working with the documentation process (p = 0.158 and p = 0.584.)The results of this study recommend the leaders of PKU Muhammadiyah Jatinom Hospital to increase the motivation of the nurses by providing the opportunity to continue higher education, providing training related to the documentation process and considering giving rewards or additional incentives for carrying out documentation.
